January 15, 2012, Day 15 - Stanley Revisited

Kendall and I joined Vicki & Kris and Mom & Dad on a roadtrip to San Marcos to be in Mike's ward today since he was being released from his calling as Bishop for the past seven years. It was a great meeting and I couldn't help but get teary knowing how hard this will be for him, but good too. Michelle made a wonderful lunch for us afterwards and Kendall brought Stanley to visit them once again. She had a great time playing with her cousin Tanner.

January 14, 2012, Day 14 - Firework Flowers

Vicki came and brought me all kinds of goodies. My favorite was this plant. We saw these at Rogers Gardens at Christmas time and fell in love with them. Luckily she found them somewhere else for a more reasonable price. This brightened my day for sure.

January 13, 2012, Day 13 - Dinners

Again....blessed. I was lucky enough to get some dinners brought in which made the freezer meals I made prior to surgery stretch out longer. The night of my surgery, Sharon Klecker, my visiting teacher, brought in dinner. The next night my mom came to our rescue, which was wonderful since her legs are not feeling so hot. We also had an amazing dinner brought in by my friend, Jenny Morphy. Delicious. This meal was from Gail Pratt who I work with in the Stake Relief Society. She lives nowhere near my but insisted on bringing dinner to give my family a break. Her Hawaiian Meatballs are going to be one of my new favorites and what could be better than individual Jell-o's? Everybody brought such fantastic food and again I feel blessed.

January 12, 2012, Day 12 - Ouch

No pictures today. Up until today, things seemed to be going well. Today was a lot more painful and uncomfortable. Is it odd that my hand is starting to feel claustrophobic in the splint? There are so many things I cannot do but luckily I have a good family taking care of me and all of my duties. I'm very blessed.

January 11, 2012, Day 11 - Survival

So this is my world for at least the next few days: cell phone, tv remote, ipod touch, Kindle Fire, some magazines and lip balm. Throw in some chick flicks and maybe some chocolate and I'm on the road to recovery. (Oh, Kendall's DS is also in the picture charging on my extension cord.)

January 10, 2012, Day 10 - Surgery

Yesterday I finally had my surgery. I had a ganglion cyst on my wrist, which I thought was causing the numbness in my hand and fingers. Turns out after many tests that it was the cyst working with carpal tunnel syndrome causing the problems. So not only did I have the cyst removed, I also had carpal tunnel release. This lovely splint will be a part of my life for the next two weeks. Matt took off work yesterday afternoon to take me to have the surgery and to my surprise, took Tuesday off as well to take care of me!

January 9, 2012 - Day 9 - Sun

Where else can you get a tan in January? Maelen is taking advantage of the sun while we have it and while she has a break from school. I think she will be particularly happy at the face she is making in this picture when she sees it.

January 8, 2012 - Day 8 - Greg Needs a Haircut

Greg has always worn his hair very short and can't stand it when it gets a little long. I could tell it was bugging him because he keeps running his hands through it. I had to tease him since it really isn't that long at all, he is just a clean cut boy. He teased it all out with his hands so I could take a picture of his "fro".

January 7, 2012 - Day 7 - My Plant

This is one of my most favorite plants I have ever purchased. I bought it last Spring and even after transplanting it, it not only thrives but is getting huge! Who would have thought the blossoms would start up again in January!

January 6, 2012 - Day 6 - New Bed Day!

Jared's new bed came today! He has been having problems sleeping, which is odd for a 14 year old boy, so we thought we would try a new bed. Hopefully this will do the trick. The one he really liked was $4,800. And yes, that was a twin size. I do have to admit, it was rediculously comfortable. He would never get out of bed if I had that one, unfortunately, he will have to make do with this one.

January 5, 2012 - Day 5 - The Neighbor's Tree

This tree has been the source of a constant battle for years! Long before we even lived here it was causing problems. Our neighbors let this thing grow and grow without so much as a trim. Part of it hangs out a good 20 feet over the fence and over the pool I might add. Their son came by and started trimming this week which got us a little bit excited, however, he only cut some off one side within their own yard, not any of the hangover. The interesting thing about that is that SOMEHOW, this big branch ended up in our yard. It certainly did not fall there. Hmmmm.

January 4, 2012 - Day 4 - Groan

Saw this license plate frame and had to take a picture even though it made me groan.

January 3, 2012 - Day 3 - Homework

I can't imagine this is comfortable, but this is the position I always find Jared in when he is doing homework or checking out Facebook. So much for the ergonomic chair and keyboard.

January 2, 2012 - Day 2 - Cell Project

Fifth grade is the year for cell projects. Kendall decided to do this even though it was just for extra credit. This one is made of styrofoam, play-doh, felt, pipe cleaners, pom poms and thread.

January 1, 2012 - Day 1 - Happy New Year!

Kendall did her best to stay up until midnight on New Years Eve. She made it to about 11:30 and then crashed. At midnight, she woke up, said "Happy New Year" and went right back to sleep. The next day was nice to just chill out after church. She loves this new chair Grandpa and Grandma gave her for Christmas. What better way to relax?
