January 15, 2012, Day 15 - Stanley Revisited

Kendall and I joined Vicki & Kris and Mom & Dad on a roadtrip to San Marcos to be in Mike's ward today since he was being released from his calling as Bishop for the past seven years. It was a great meeting and I couldn't help but get teary knowing how hard this will be for him, but good too. Michelle made a wonderful lunch for us afterwards and Kendall brought Stanley to visit them once again. She had a great time playing with her cousin Tanner.

January 14, 2012, Day 14 - Firework Flowers

Vicki came and brought me all kinds of goodies. My favorite was this plant. We saw these at Rogers Gardens at Christmas time and fell in love with them. Luckily she found them somewhere else for a more reasonable price. This brightened my day for sure.

January 13, 2012, Day 13 - Dinners

Again....blessed. I was lucky enough to get some dinners brought in which made the freezer meals I made prior to surgery stretch out longer. The night of my surgery, Sharon Klecker, my visiting teacher, brought in dinner. The next night my mom came to our rescue, which was wonderful since her legs are not feeling so hot. We also had an amazing dinner brought in by my friend, Jenny Morphy. Delicious. This meal was from Gail Pratt who I work with in the Stake Relief Society. She lives nowhere near my but insisted on bringing dinner to give my family a break. Her Hawaiian Meatballs are going to be one of my new favorites and what could be better than individual Jell-o's? Everybody brought such fantastic food and again I feel blessed.

January 12, 2012, Day 12 - Ouch

No pictures today. Up until today, things seemed to be going well. Today was a lot more painful and uncomfortable. Is it odd that my hand is starting to feel claustrophobic in the splint? There are so many things I cannot do but luckily I have a good family taking care of me and all of my duties. I'm very blessed.

January 11, 2012, Day 11 - Survival

So this is my world for at least the next few days: cell phone, tv remote, ipod touch, Kindle Fire, some magazines and lip balm. Throw in some chick flicks and maybe some chocolate and I'm on the road to recovery. (Oh, Kendall's DS is also in the picture charging on my extension cord.)

January 10, 2012, Day 10 - Surgery

Yesterday I finally had my surgery. I had a ganglion cyst on my wrist, which I thought was causing the numbness in my hand and fingers. Turns out after many tests that it was the cyst working with carpal tunnel syndrome causing the problems. So not only did I have the cyst removed, I also had carpal tunnel release. This lovely splint will be a part of my life for the next two weeks. Matt took off work yesterday afternoon to take me to have the surgery and to my surprise, took Tuesday off as well to take care of me!
